I have definitely changed my understanding of the many issues covered in this class. I had made a web page in my undergrad, but it was very basic. After creating the web page for this class, I have managed to learn and apply many more techniques I never thought I could master. I really enjoyed learning how to add pictures and video to my blog. I also learned a lot about podcasting, and delicious accounts.
I will be using the web as a reference to teach my class in the future.

I have definitely learned a lot this quarter. Throughout this entire process I have never felt so frustrated, and so excited at the same time. I have learned how to use SeaMonkey to create a web page. Within that process of creating a web page, I have learned how important it is to save not only save all your files under one folder, but to make sure you work off your hard drive, and then transfer over your files when you are ready to upload them to your site. It is also important to like every page of your global and local navigation.
For those of you who might experience some trouble when developing your own web page.....take your time to search out turtorials. There are many helpful hints on the Internet if you just take the time to look for them. The website Prodigy is a great reference for information on creating personal web pages. It explains everything you need to know in great detail.

I came across a few websites that I enjoy that use video to enhance the purpose of the site. The 1st is CBS MLB Baseball also known as http://www.sportsline.com/ it is very interesting to see all the baseball highlights they offer. I love how this site offers options on what highlight to view, and it is located on the front page of the site for easy viewing. The next video website is Grey's Anatomy. The show is one of my favorites to watch during the week, and it has some of the best looking men on television. It can be found at abc.com. ABC gives you the opportunity to view past episodes you might have missed, in order to catch you up with what is going on in the show. You can also check out other videos from popular shows that ABC broadcasts. These videos are easily accessible and easy to view. My third website that offers video is YouTube. This site offers many videos on just about anything you can think of. My favorite video from this site is Terry Tate "Office Linebacker." This is a video you should definitely check out. This guy makes people GET TO WORK. It will have you rolling on the floor. You are able to see featured videos, which are the most popular videos at that time. You also have the opportunity to search for videos of interest to you.

Blog # 6 Podcasts

I had never used podcasts for my personal purposes before this class. I did however, have a class that required me to listen to a podcast in order to know exactly what we were going to cover that day. It was very interesting, and informative. In class I subscribed to a podcast from iTunes. The few I really enjoyed were: "VH1 The best week ever," "The Economist," and "ESPN radio."
I also subscribed to some business podcast from podcast.net which talks about sustainable business practices....very interesting! In addition I subscribed to iPodder.org which has many entertainment, and professional podcasts available. I believe it will be very useful for me to have access to these podcasts when I start to teach. I enjoy listening and watching podcasts for both professional and personal use.

I created a Del.ic.io.us account that displays websites that either interest me professionally or that I visit often. As a future Business Education teacher I feel that the majority of these sites will help me stay current with the future trends in business and technology. I also added two blogs that I visit often to help me stay informed about education. Like others in this class I am not much of a blogger, but I did find it interesting to check out other blogs not associated with our class. I think it would be a great idea to check out educational blogs to get ideas from other teachers.

The concept of "fair use" is basically a way to use content based on exceptions and limitations of copywright laws. So people like us, can use images that we got off the web, instead of creating our own. Liquid Library is a website that offers interesting images for use with alternative copyrights. Molecular Expressions is another site that anyone can use to find interesting images. Creative Commons licensing lets authors, educators, artists, and others use tools to easily mark their own work. This gives them the option to mark their copyright terms as "All Rights Reserved" or "Some Rights Reserved."

I plan to create a website that is accessible to my students when I begin teaching. It will be centered around the subject I plan to teach, which is Business Foundations. This class will contain all Microsoft Office applications, web design, Photoshop, Publisher, Illustrator, and other computer based information. I will have links to other information about business and other uses of technology. I want the website to be very user friendly to everyone who visits. It will contain information about my background, and education. I will have categories that will be easy for my students and their parents to access things like grades, assignments, articles, guest speakers, and upcoming events. I chose to include all of this information because I would like to be able to use this website when I teach. I wil obviously tweak some things, but the basic idea will stay the same. The overall look that I am going for is a very structured site with computer and class information.

My first favorite website would have to be the Atlanta Braves website. I have been a Braves fan since I was very young, and I like to check out players stats, schedules, standings, and other facts about the team. I find this site very user-friendly, and helpful when I am interested in how particular players are performing. This site also has links to other teams in the National and American Leagues, which is nice when you want to find out how the upcoming competition has been performing lately. The web page has easy to read font, and easy to use "global navigation tabs." This site helps me stay connected and informed about the "best team in baseball." haha.

My second favorite site would have to be J.J. Huddle. I enjoy checking this site out from time to time for a.......time when I need a laugh. I have helped coach my home town's high school softball team for the last two years, and Urbana Softball is always mentioned on this site. The message board is always briming with ideas on who will be the team to beat each season. It is always nice to see many comments from people who haven't the slightest idea how to even play the game of softball, let alone comment on it. The site also includes updated scores, rankings, and pictures. It is easy to navigate, and includes font that is easy to read.

My third favorite site would be CNN. I like to visit this site to find out the important breaking news in the U.S., World, Weather, and Entertainment. This site is user-friendly, by allowing users to search for news, click on the recent top stories, and/or click on the subject they wish to look for stories. It also contains links to other top news sites. I use this site as my connection to the top stories around the world, when I am not near a television. The font is easy to read with bold letters for the important pieces, and colored text to separate the links from one another.

Hi! My name is Tia Brenning, and I am in the Business Education Licensure Program at OSU. I have a Marketing Undergraduate Degree from Tennessee Tech University. I have decided to go back to school to receive a licensure and masters degree to teach Business Ed classes on the high school level. Some other things that have influenced my decision to go back to school, are helping out high school softball and volleyball program in my home town of Urbana, Oh.

I am very excited about using web design in this class, and in my future classroom. I have already created my own website for a Marketing Research class I took in my undergrad. We learned a lot of interesting techniques and tools to enhance a website. I am really looking forward to allowing my students to use their imaginations by setting up their personal websites. In my personal life I use the internet for emailing, for my classes, to stay connected with friends and professors, and classmates. I talk to friends and family through instant messenger quite a bit in my spare time. In my professional life I do a lot of substitute teaching, and I am required to search for open positions as they are posted online. I also plan to make my own website in order to keep students, parents, administrators, and other teachers informed about what is going on in my class. I will post homework, projects, and other outlines about the class.

I have used javascript and html while creating my first website in my marketing class. I am by no means an expert in any of these areas. We did our webpage development in Geocities, which is on the Yahoo hompage. I plan to use this course as a refresher class to further develop my webpage developing skills. Once, I can master these areas, I will be able to better serve, and assist my students.

My website is full of Marketing links, and information about me. I haven't updated the site in awhile, and it is full of requirements specified by our instructor. I am very excited to create a brand new website that I will be able to use in my future class.

Since this is the last blog of the quarter, I think it is only fitting that I evaluate everything we have learned in this class. I know I will definitely use a lot of the same programs we used, in my business class. As I think back to the start of the quarter, I remember how intimidated I was with Photoshop, Publisher, and Movie Maker. Since, I had never used any of these programs before, I was a little nervous. I would have to say that Photoshop was the most interesting, and difficult aspect of this class. I love the way we were told to just use our imaginations, and explore all of the tools within the program. I can see now that becuase I was told to "try out" different techniques and tools that it made me learn how to use them. It also saved time in class, because instead of lecture that would cover all the tools and techniques we were able to explore some on our own. I will use that way of teaching the material to my students. I think there is something to be said when a teacher says "here is the assignment, and the sky's the limit."

I can also see myself down the road, using Publisher to make newsletters for my class or department. I think that is a great tool to keep parents involved and informed about what their child is doing. I like the idea of using it as a way to communicate with family members as well.

Movie Maker was also a big challenge for me. It took me a long time to find some video off the web to use in my project. Once I found a video on Hawaii Travel, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I had recently gone to Hawaii with my family and we had a ton of pictures. It took me a while to split the clips into sections I could use. Finally, I had a decent video that incorporated video along with pictures of similar places we visited on our trip. The music was also very hard to save to my computer. I had the music saved, but not as a file that would go into the video. It took me a while to import it and figure out what I was doing wrong. Finally, I finshed the video, and in the end it turned out pretty good. My family loved it! I learned a very good lesson at the completion of this project, which was to work off your hard drive!!! I will tell my future students to not work off of their jump drives. I had the toughest time getting everything to work. All in all this assignment was a thrill to complete! I will definitely use all of these programs in my class!

I believe that video production is a becoming more important in the technology of the future. As a future business educator, I plan to use video production in my classroom. It is necessary that my students become fully aware of all the advances in video production. Therefore, I plan to attend conferences every year to find out the latest and greatest techniques with video production. I have been doing a field experience at Eastland Career Center, and I have spent a lot of time in the Interactive Media classroom. The things these students are doing, are exactly the kinds of things I want to teach my students. For instance, how to use Windows Movie Maker, how to download actual video from the Internet, and how to add text and music to your movie. I believe I will use video production as a professional, for as long as I am a teacher. I will be able to present videos that I have worked on myself, and others that people have done over the years. I also believe I will have no problem adding this aspect of media to my curriculum.

My video will be sort of a continuation of my first one. I will add more video of Hawaii, and I will use video from the song I used in the first video. The song was Kenny Chesney's "No shoes, No shirt, No problems. My first video was about The Brenning Family trip to Hawaii. The final video project will be about the same theme......which is our family trip. However, it will also be kind of my own little music video with Kenny. I would like to make this video look as if my family pictures are inside Kenny Chesney's music video. I also want to add more pictures to describe the setting of where we were and how it looked. Hawaii is such a beautiful place, I want the video to look as if you are coming by plane to the island. I will use Windows Movie Maker to create this video. I will also use video from a Hawaiian tourist video, from Kenny Chesney's Music Video of "No shoes, No shirt, No problems," and pictures from my family vacation. Adam Dendinger is also going to be working on this video. He will be involved in getting the video from Kenny Chesney music video, and coming up with the best way to fit them into the movie. I will be deciding what pictures go where, the transitions, and getting more clips from the Hawaiian tourist video. We plan to work together on monday afternoons, Friday mornings, and in class on thursday nights. If we should find that we need to get together more than that, then we will do so. We have set up to meet every time in the computer lab in Ramseyer Hall in the basement. I believe that we both will be very pleased with what we turn into for the final video project.

The process of creating my video was a very interesting one. It took me awhile to decide what I was going to use in my video. I fist thought of all the pictures that I have on my computer. The majority of my pictures are from my 2006 June trip to Hawaii. I decided to work alone because these are my pictures, and I prefer to work on them by myself. I worked on my home computer, because all my pictures are stored there. It took me a long time to figure out all of the techniques and different ways to make a video. I took some video off the internet, from a Hawaii tourist video. I also used my pictures from my trip, and some Hawaiian music my mother owned to complete the video. I really enjoyed this process of making this video, and will continue to make many videos in the future. I will also enjoy teaching this software to my classes when I become a teacher.

I believe that graphic design and page layout definitely have an impact on today's literacy and learning. Graphic design and page layout create addtional clarity, neatness, and organization for lesson plans. They end up making a boring and somwhat dull lesson, more interesting. They also catch a student's eye, and attention, which helps in the overall understanding of the lesson. It also caters to many learning styles, such as visual to actually see what the lesson consists of. In addtion to this, students will be encouraged to create their own graphic designs and page layouts to better understand the information they read about. It is important that students understand how to use and apply things like graphic designs and page layouts to presentations they themselves perfrom in front of the class.

I believe I will be able to use page layouts and newletters in a variety of ways in my profession. I love the idea of using the different templates in page layouts to develop many worksheets and projects I will use in my classroom. I will also allow my students to use page layouts to complete projects for my class and other classes as well. My students will be asked to submit entries into the Business Professionals of America contest, and will be able to use page layouts in a variety of ways for that contest. I will also assign a newsletter to be completed for credit in my class.

There are also things I can do for my profession using newsletters and page layouts. I plan on creating a newsletter for my class as well. My class newsletter will inform not only students on upcoming events and projects, but parents also. I hope to eventually become an advisor in Business Professionals of America, and I will use a lot newsletters, and page layouts to stay up to date.

I believe image editing will play a big part in my professional career. I will have my students work with their own pictures to try and create something new. I will ask my students to use their imaginations, and tell them that the "sky is the limit," so to speak. I believe my students will be able to take what we learn in class, and apply it to their personal activities and future endevors.

I will also be able to incorporate image editing into my professional career by, adding it to my powerpoint presentations. I intend to use image editing in a variety of other ways as well. For instance, I want to be able to adjust some pictures, and the different forms we might use in class. I also plan on having a contest to see the best image from all of my classes. I can't wait to see what my students will be able to come up with. I have seen some very interesting work done by the students at Eastland Career Center, where I observe on Tuesday/Thursdays. I think it is very important to allow students to think outside of the box when using images. I believe Photoshop will be my favorite subject to teach.

I not only think that image editing will play a huge role in my professional career, but I also think it will help me to create and edit my personal images.

So far my experiences with Photoshop have been good and bad. I have had some difficulty editing images in Photoshop. I feel that my biggest challenge is getting the images to look as if they belong into the scene. However, I really enjoy exploring, and finding different tools in Photoshop to assist in creating an image that reflects what's in my mind.
I try to think about the assignment, and picture the photos from my collection. From there, I try to tweak a scene in my head, and think about how they might work well together. I enjoy sports, and hanging out with friends and family, so any images where I can enhance those pictures inspires me. I also love trying to enhance different pictures of landscapes. I would love to be able to work on videos, and try to edit them. I know we have a project with that at the end of the quarter, and I would love to find out as much as I can about how that works. I think video editing would make a great topic to teach when I start teaching.
